At the entrance to Twizel is a display of large earthmoving machinery that reflects the history of the Waitaki power projects and origin of the township. The equipment includes a bulldozer, dump truck and an international scraper, they have been returned to their original colour scheme by volunteers from the Heritage Machinery Group. Information boards beside each machine tell of the history.
